SOCIAL SKILLS PROGRAM 2010
DESCRIPTION: Children will further develop their social skills through small group interaction with peers. Sessions are run by Experienced ABA/IBI
Instructor Therapists.A Senior Therapist oversees the program. Sessions are designed to meet the individual needs of each child.
As we know, learning is holistic and requires exploration through many different mediums and experiences. All themes will be explored through
discussion, gross and fine motor activities, self-help activities, sensory activities, play and outings. As all children learn differently and are at different
levels of learning, we ensure that experiences will be developmentally appropriate and accessible to all levels of learners.
COME AND HAVE FUN WITH US!

construction. Children will learn about gravity, balance, symmetry and other mathematical concepts while working together on small and large
construction projects. Children will work on cooperation, requesting, waiting and idea sharing while creating a fort use as an environment for play.
May 1st: THE SCIENCE FAIR
This week will focus on scientific exploration and sensory integration. Children will explore colour, light, cause and effect, sound, biology and
chemistry in safe and engaging ways. The activities this week may get a little messy so please come in clothes that are ‘experiment friendly’ and
pack an extra set, just in case.
May 8th: LET'S GET PHYSICAL
This week will explore the human body through movement, pictures and discussion. Children will explore digestion, respiration, and how the body
moves through fun and engaging activities and media presentations. Children will discover new ways to move our body through yoga poses,

May 22nd: FAIR PLAY SPORTS DAY
Building on the experiences of last week, this week will focus on different organized sports and fair play. Children will learn the rules and guidelines
for different sports as well as engage in skill building activities and exercises. Children will also experience winning and losing and will work on
building their ability to manage with both by learning different coping strategies and integrating what was learned about emotions and communication
during week two. Weather permitting, we will spend some time outdoors exploring and expanding their understanding of the different sports
presented.
OUTING: PLAYDIUM (please bring $5 for tokens)!
May 29th: COMMUNITY SAFTEY
As the weather gets nicer and children are playing outside more, this week will focus on general safety, community helpers and stranger danger.
Children will explore road and park safety through fun and interactive movement activities as well as who helps us in the community through games
and dress up. Children will learn what to do when they are lost and will work on developing communication skills to give information. Children will
learn about stranger danger and safety in public places.
